The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms.

Routes of entry: Inhalation of dust. Inhalation of vapor and ingestion. /Chlorinated lime/

Ingestion Exposure: Abdominal pain. Burning sensation. Shock or collapse.

Toxic Pneumonitis - Inflammation of the lungs induced by inhalation of metal fumes or toxic gases and vapors.

The substance can be absorbed into the body by ingestion and by inhalation.

Principal effect of such compounds, which yield chlorine in solution, is local irritation of the intestinal tract.

Evaluation: There is inadequate evidence for the carcinogenicity of hypochlorite salts in experimental animals. No data were available from studies in humans on the carcinogenicity of hypochlorite salts.
