The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. It is strongly advised not to let the chemical enter into the environment.

NIOSH (NOES Survey 1981-1983) has statistically estimated that 1,445 workers (230 of these were female) were potentially exposed to sulfur dichloride in the US(1). Occupational exposure to sulfur dichloride may occur through inhalation and dermal contact with this compound at workplaces where sulfur dichloride is produced or used(SRC).
